Do you have a webcomic you’re reading right now?
I’m currently enjoying Journey Upstream, an allegory of the Christian journey, i.e. following Jesus in a fallen world. And the main characters are animals! They travel to their new home upstream, and they meet other helpful animals as well as obstacles along the way. Backstories of individual characters are told visually and are interspersed throughout the comic, and they hit the right beats in the story.
This series is for teens and maybe upper middle grade, depending on how well your kids can handle animal violence (including a beheading). Readers should also note that there are a few uses of “ass.”
The artwork is impressive, and the emotions and personalities are captured well in the animals’ faces and body language.

Another web comic I like is a dystopian series called Extra!, where people live as if they’re a TV show, politics and all. You can buy physical copies of the comic from the website, but you can also read it for free starting here:
Note: There are dark parts in this series, such as a torture scene involving drowning attempts and a character considering suicide. Both of these parts are counteracted with Christian bravery and comfort, but because of these scenes, this comic would be fitting for readers ages thirteen through eighteen.
The characters are quirky, colorful, and unique, and there are riotous interactions between them. The adventures they have are so engaging, I find myself turning the pages.
